Based in a compact studio in the heart of Tokyo, ComPotte is a ceramic brand dedicated to the exploration of "Computational Pottery." We believe that in an increasingly digital world, the beauty of technology and the tactile warmth of traditional craft should not be polarized, but rather woven together to create a new dimension of expression.

Our journey begins with the language of mathematics. Using advanced digital tools like Rhinoceros and Houdini, we generate forms that transcend the limits of the human hand—structures defined by an intricate, superhuman order. However, the true essence of ComPotte lies in the "betrayal" of this digital perfection.

When these precise designs are translated into the raw, living medium of clay, the unpredictable nature of the kiln takes over. Clay shrinks, warps, and breathes; glazes flow and crystallize in ways no algorithm can fully predict. We embrace this tension between the controlled and the uncontrolled. Within this "betrayal" by the material, we discover a profound, organic beauty that calculation alone could never reach.

While our forms are born from code, our process is deeply analog. From the hand-carving of plaster molds to the meticulous application of glazes, every step requires a craftsman’s intuition. We pay obsessive attention to the tension of an edge and the texture of a surface, ensuring that the sharp "digital" impression of the design is preserved through the soft, inviting warmth of porcelain.
